Overview
Wirelogs (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates wirelogs.com and the free online tools available on it. We built Wirelogs to be private by default: most of our tools run entirely in your browser, which means the files and text you process generally never leave your device.
This policy explains the limited data we do collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have under laws such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA).
Information we collect
1. Files and content you process
The PDFs, images, videos, code snippets and other content you load into our tools are processed locally on your device in the browser. We do not upload them to our servers, we do not store them, and we cannot read them.
2. Information you provide
If you contact us through the contact form or by email, we receive your name, email address and message so we can reply. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we store your email address with our mail provider, Mailchimp, until you unsubscribe.
3. Automatically collected information
When you visit Wirelogs, our hosting infrastructure and analytics provider may automatically collect:
- IP address (anonymized before use in analytics)
- Device, browser type, operating system and language
- Pages you visit, time on page, and the page that referred you
- Approximate location derived from your IP (country/region)
4. Cookies and similar technologies
We use a small number of cookies and similar storage (e.g. localStorage) for essential site features such as remembering your theme preference and your cookie choices, and — with your consent — for analytics and advertising. You can review and manage these in our Cookie Policy.
How we use information
- To provide and improve the Wirelogs tools and website
- To respond to messages you send us
- To send newsletters you have explicitly opted in to
- To measure aggregate, anonymized traffic using Google Analytics so we can understand which tools are useful
- To display advertising through Google AdSense (only with your consent in regions that require it)
- To detect, prevent and respond to abuse, fraud or security issues
- To comply with legal obligations
Legal bases (GDPR / UK GDPR)
If you are in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, we process personal data on the following bases:
- Consent — analytics, advertising and non-essential cookies, newsletter sign-up.
- Legitimate interests — running the site, keeping it secure, and improving our tools.
- Contractual necessity — replying to your support requests.
- Legal obligation — complying with applicable laws and lawful requests.
Advertising and Google AdSense
Wirelogs may display advertisements served by Google AdSense and its partners. Google may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on user activity.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can also opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalized ads by visiting www.aboutads.info.
- In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, ads are non-personalized unless you consent to advertising cookies via our consent banner.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate usage. IP addresses are anonymized and we do not combine analytics data with any personal identifier. Analytics only runs after you accept analytics cookies in regions where consent is required.
Who we share data with
We share limited data with the following processors, only to operate the site:
- Google LLC — analytics and advertising
- Mailchimp (Intuit) — newsletter delivery, only if you subscribe
- Our hosting provider — serving the site
We do not sell or rent personal information. We may disclose information when required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, property or safety of our users or the public.
International transfers
Our processors may store and process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, transfers rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or other approved safeguards.
Data retention
- Analytics data: up to 14 months in aggregated form.
- Contact messages: up to 24 months after the last reply.
- Newsletter email: until you unsubscribe.
- Cookie consent record: 12 months, then we ask again.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction or deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw consent at any time
- Receive your data in a portable format
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority
To exercise any of these rights, email contact@wirelogs.com. We respond within 30 days.
California residents (CCPA / CPRA)
We do not sell personal information for money. Sharing information with advertising partners for personalized ads may be classified as “sharing” under the CPRA. You can opt out at any time via our cookie banner or the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” control in your browser.
Children
Wirelogs is not directed to children under 13 (or 16 in the EEA), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted on this page and, where appropriate, communicated to you. The “Last updated” date above always reflects the current version.
